Gemselect are proud of their developments in and around East Sussex supporting the local economy and community

Hastings boasts a beautiful level promenade joining the Old Town to the east with the bustling contemporary shopping Town Centre and St Leonards to the west.

The cosmopolitan town of Hastings is also home to the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe, the remains of the first castle in England to be built by William the Conqueror and is steeped in history of the battle of 1066 and Cinque Port heritage.

Today, nestling between the East and West Hills, the Old Town is a charming mix of half-timbered houses, narrow streets and passageways, locally known as ‘twittens’.  Local museums recall old seafaring days and famous  sunken ships as well as the colourful history of smuggling and the impressive tall black ‘net huts’  and Hastings Fish Market offer fresh fish caught daily.  There’s a wealth of wine bars and restaurants and a lively local music scene.

The beautiful Fairlight country park adjoins the East Hill to the east of Hastings seafront and runs for several miles over to nearby Fairlight and beyond.

The newly renovated landmark Hastings Pier offers outdoor entertainment, restaurants and an interactive exhibition, as well as all the fun of a traditional seaside experience.  Adjoining Hastings to the west is St Leonards On Sea, featuring the classical elegance of James Burton Architecture and the fashionable alternative Norman Road- recently named as’ the new Portobello Road On Sea’ by The Times newspaper -  offering a collection of antique shops and vintage galleries, along with delicious interesting dining options.

Just to the west of St Leonards, you will find the beautiful town of Battle, steeped in history from 1066 to the present day.  With the historic battle Abbey and the 1066 battle ground, coffee shops and independent local stores it provides a bustling environment.

Hastings, St Leonards and nearby Battle boast good road and rail links to London, Ashford International station and all nearby major towns and cities, including Eastbourne, Brighton, and Tunbridge Wells.  Close enough to the local ports of Dover and Newhaven to make cross channel travel easily accessible.

All this combined with good local primary and secondary schools offering both Academies and a choice of local Independent Schools, really does make a Gemselect Home the ideal choice.
