New Development - Land at Ore Valley

Gemselect Ltd are delighted to have been nominated as the preferred bidder for the above development site. The site has lain dormant for many years and we will now have the opportunity to release its potential as a much needed local housing scheme.

Gemselect Ltd have been instrumental in the development of many opportunities for the provision of quality affordable homes in Hastings and St Leonards including sites in the Ore Valley. We look forward to working with the local community and representative groups over the coming months in order to provide a housing development layout and design that all parties can be proud of for years to come.

Prior to the 1960s, the Site was used for agricultural/ pastoral purposes and as a brickworks. Post 1960s, the Site contained two power stations, which were cleared to ground level in the early 2000s. The Site is currently derelict, with some remnant structures remaining.

The regeneration of the wider Ore Valley area has been a long term objective of Hastings Borough Council, which was formerly enabled by the Millennium Communities Programme.

Ore Valley is situated within eastern Hastings, a predominately residential area benefiting from attractions including the Old Town and the Stade, Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve and Hastings Cliffs Special Area of Conservation. There is also a considerable business accommodation offer at the Ivyhouse Lane employment area. Ore railway station is located to the south of the Site and provides a regular Southern service operating on an hourly basis to London Victoria via Lewes and Haywards Heath (average journey time 2 hours 14 minutes) and to Brighton via Eastbourne (average journey time 1 hour 18 minutes).
